The term "peanuts" for small change became infamous in Germany when the chairman of the Deutsche Bank publically called 50 million Deutsche Mark peanuts. I mean, considering that the Deutsche Bank was and is dealing with billions, his intended statement that such a negligible sum can't possibly threaten the existence of his house was obviously correct, but the context of his statement was the bankruptcy of one of his clients that caused a lot of other people to lose their jobs and their businesses, people who didn't consider this sum negligible at all.
