We try to shoehorn the vast spectacle of life into a finite number of neat categories, like "butch" and "femme", and then someone else comes along and tells us that these categories are a replication of repressive male culture and that you're not allowed to be a sexy butch with a certain dry, acerbic charm. Or that you can't be a sexy lesbian schoolgirl, since you have a penis. Even if you barely use the latter for anything but peeing.
